CHANGING TIMES

Frankfurt’s Alte Opera Auditorium

A video mapping on the façade of the Alte Oper in Frankfurt tells the story of the building in ten minutes: from its construction, supported by the citizens, to its destruction during World War II, to its reconstruction and rebirth as a concert hall. The narrative unfolds as a work in five chapters, accompanied by an original soundtrack by Fernweh. Animated images, inspired by archival materials and works from the Städel Museum, intertwine in a dynamic sequence that recreates the different eras of the monument: the enthusiasm of the inauguration, the period of maximum splendor, the destruction, the citizens' mobilization for reconstruction, and, finally, the building's new life.

The result is an engaging audiovisual experience that intertwines figurative sequences and more abstract passages, with chromatic contrasts and decorative solutions designed to highlight the architectural features of the façade, transforming it into a scenic surface with a strong emotional impact.
